Imagine a Cure for Leukemia (“Imagine”) is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its donors and other stakeholders. We value the trust placed in us by the public and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information provided. This Privacy Policy is a statement of principles and guidelines concerning the protection of personal information entrusted to us.

During the course of our various projects and activities, we frequently gather and use personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of this information is subject to consent. Our privacy practices are designed to achieve this.

Defining personal information
Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual.  Imagine collects various types of personal information that you volunteer while making a donation, registering for one of our fundraising events, completing a survey, requesting a tax receipt, etc. You may provide such personal  information as name, address and e-mail address and may also respond to other questions on some of our forms. 

You have the option to delete your information from our database simply by advising us, at donate@imagineacureforleukemia.com.

Imagine will only collect personal information that you have voluntarily given to us. Unless it is obvious from the nature of the transaction, we will not collect any information without telling you ahead of time (either through this Privacy Policy or at the time of our request) how it will be used. 

By choosing to provide us with your personal information, you are consenting to its use in accordance with the principles in this Privacy Policy or as outlined at the time you were asked to provide the information.

Privacy Practices
Personal information gathered by Imagine is kept in confidence. Access is only provided based on a need to use the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained. Safeguards are in place to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered. 

Imagine collects, uses and discloses personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in light of the circumstances. We routinely offer individuals with whom we deal the opportunity to choose not to have their information shared for purposes beyond those for which it was explicitly collected.

Website and Electronic Commerce
We use encryption software to protect personal and other information received when a service is requested and/or paid for online. The online giving tool provided by our website (Artez) uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to ensure the integrity and privacy of the personal and credit card information you provide when you make an online donation or register for an event. Donations made online are done through a PCI Level 1 Audited Service Provider. This represents the highest standard for internet security.

Cookies
When our donors, volunteers, and other constituents access the secure section of our website, a small text file called a "cookie" is sent from our web server to their web browser and is stored on their computer. Cookies allow us to recognize you while you are logged into the secure section of our website and expire when you close your browser window.

We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site to read the privacy statements of every web site that collects personally identifiable information. Our privacy policy applies solely to information collected on our web site.

Currency
If any credit card donations are made in currency other than Canadian, the amount will be converted and charged to the cardholder in Canadian dollars.
